§ 86-1. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Frontage means that side or limit of the lot or parcel of land in question which abuts on the improvement or on a street within which the improvement is located or installed either above or below ground level.

    Improve and improvement mean and include the grading, regrading, paving, repaving, macadamizing and remacadamizing of streets, sidewalks or other public places or ways; the construction, reconstruction, relocating and altering of curbing, guttering, storm sewers, catchbasins, sidewalks, street lights, devices to control the flow of traffic on streets and roads, sewer lines, taps and connections to sewer lines, lift stations for lines, water lines, taps and connections for water lines, all appurtenances or other connections therein; and the cost of administration.

    Pave means and includes storm draining, catchbasins, curbs, gutters, paving, macadamizing, clearing and grading.

    Sewer or sewer line means and includes sewer mains, lift stations and sewer taps and connections.

    Street means and includes streets, roads, highways, avenues, alleys, sidewalks and other public places or ways.

    Water or water line means and includes water mains, taps and connections.
