§ 102-37. Tire and weight restrictions.

  • No axle load on any vehicle operated upon any public road maintained by the county shall exceed 20,340 pounds unless said vehicle is making a pickup or delivery on a county road with ingress or egress to a state designated route. In such event, the maximum axle load shall be as provided for in O.C.G.A. § 32-6-26. An axle load shall be defined as the total load on all wheels whose centers may be included between two parallel transverse vertical planes 40 inches apart. If the driver of any vehicle can comply with the requirements of this section by shifting or equalizing the load on all wheels or axles and does so when requested by the proper authority, said driver shall not be held to be operating in violation of this section.
